How to let LinkSweep scan your Akamai-protected site
Your site is protected by Akamai, which is blocking our scanner. Akamai is a security service many sites use to stop bad traffic — we just need to tell it that LinkSweep is safe. This takes about 5 minutes.
Don't manage your site's security yourself?
No problem. Scroll to the bottom — there's a ready-to-send message you can forward to whoever runs your website. They'll know what to do.
What to tell Akamai
- LinkSweep's IP address
- 185.31.243.206
- LinkSweep's identifier
- Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; LinkSweep/1.0; +https://linksweep.eu/bot)
- How much traffic
- Up to a few hundred requests per scan, on whatever schedule you've set (weekly / biweekly / monthly). Almost no ongoing load.
Step-by-step in Akamai Control Center
- Log in to control.akamai.com.
- Open your site's security configuration: top menu → Security → Security Configuration → pick the config that protects your site.
- Find Bot Manager in the left sidebar. (If your plan has Bot Manager Premier, it's the same menu.)
-
Add a bypass list for LinkSweep:
- Go to Exception List → Bypass Network Lists.
- Click Create New Network List.
- Name it
LinkSweep-allow. - Add the IP
185.31.243.206/32. - Save.
- Attach it to your Bot Manager policy: in the policy rules, add an action of Allow / Bypass Bot Detection for this network list. Priority should be higher than your block rules (typically rule 1 or 2).
- Activate: Akamai makes you push to Staging first. Activate, wait 2-3 minutes, test. Then activate to Production. Expect another 5-10 minutes before changes are live worldwide.
After you've allowlisted us
- Wait 5-10 minutes after pushing the Akamai config to production.
- Go back to LinkSweep → open the site → click Scan Now.
- The scan should complete with real results. If it still fails, the Akamai change may not have propagated yet — wait another 10 minutes and try again.
- If it still fails after 30 minutes, contact support.

Hi,
We're using LinkSweep (https://linksweep.eu) to monitor our website's health — broken links, SEO issues, accessibility problems. Their crawler is being blocked by our Akamai Bot Manager.
Please add them to our Akamai allowlist:
- IP: 185.31.243.206/32
- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; LinkSweep/1.0; +https://linksweep.eu/bot)
Steps (5-10 min):
1. Akamai Control Center → Security → Security Configuration → [our config]
2. Bot Manager → Exception List → Bypass Network Lists → New network list
3. Name: "LinkSweep-allow", IP: 185.31.243.206/32
4. Attach to the Bot Manager policy with action "Bypass Bot Detection"
5. Activate to Staging, then to Production (10 min to propagate)
Expected traffic: up to a few hundred requests per scheduled scan. They respect robots.txt.
